For many of us, the relationships that we have with our grandparents are some of the most special that we will ever have in our lives and so it comes as no surprise that 57 percent of people we polled are close to their grandparents. These days we even value them for being ‘cool’. According to our study of 3000 adults, nearly six out of ten people think their grandparents are ‘cool’. The fact they lived through a world war, like X factor and can knit and garden are just a few of the contributing factors.

They love to narrate tales from their youth and have the power to engross us with their incredible stories.
2. spoilt rotten
It is in their nature to be generous and as they are not responsible for the day to day rules like a parent, they have the freedom to be a little indulgent. Our study showed that 38 percent of people love the fact their grandparents spoil them.
3. technical
Some grandparents even gain kudos for their technical capabilities. Also known as the ‘silver surfers,’ the elderly enjoy email, texting and the use of social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
4. family bond
We confide in them with our best kept secrets and we reach out to Grandma and Grandpa when we are in need of a sympathetic ear. Older relations provide us with much needed support and help knit the family together.
5. fashion icons
Grandparents are also scoring on the style front; these days it’s not uncommon for us to be caught digging around in their vintage wardrobes for ‘retro look’ items. Grandparents are frequently in vogue with some adding to their cool factor by looking 20 years younger than their age.
