The first paper in the Certificate in Financial Planning (CFP1) is the foundation
on which it is possible to build a career or gain a comprehension of the financial
services industry which will help you make informed decisions about your own financial
circumstances.

The course is run over 5 days and concludes with an exam. Each of the workshops
will explore various areas of the syllabus, providing you with plenty of time to
ask questions, reinforce your learning and practise your exam technique.
There are two styles of course to choose from. The first is on a weekly basis with
full day workshops being held once a week over a five week period. The second is
an intensive course which is run over five consecutive days, Monday to Friday.
The workshops are friendly and informal and use a range of training methods to ensure
plenty of variety and fun each day.
We must recieve your completed booking form and payment in full at least 7 days
prior to the course start date.
Day 1 – Financial Services Industry and Regulation
- How the industry is structured, the role of the Government and Bank of England;
the industry regulators, their aims, objectives and activities; different types
of financial advisers and what is required of them.
Day 2 – Personal Taxation
- Income tax; Capital Gains Tax; ways in which to mitigate tax liabilities
Day 3 – Assets, Risk and Investment Products
- Asset classes, their behaviours and taxation; Risk & perception of risk; pooled
investments; and packaged investment products
Day 4 – Mortgages, Protection Products and Advice
- Looking at the different types of mortgages available and interest schemes; life
and health protection products; advice documentation and process; and a mock examination
Day 5 – Revision and Examination
- A tailored revision session based on the results of the mocks and a chance to ask
questions before completing the course with the on-line examination
