staff take on nine day charity challenge

2 June 2011

Paul Horridge and James Ogden

Two members of staff at Engage Mutual are setting off on the challenge of their lives in support of the inspirational Steve Prescott MBE.

James Ogden (30), of Hookstone Avenue in Harrogate and Paul Horridge (25) of St Mathew Way in Leeds will cycle a gruelling 1000+ miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats, incorporating a punishing 26-mile hike over the highest peaks in Wales, England and Scotland, as part of the Engage Mutual End-to-End Extreme.

The nine day challenge is the Steve Prescott Foundation’s toughest to date.  It starts on Saturday 4 June and finishes on 12 June.

James and Paul will join 15 others for the challenge, including Steve Prescott who is fighting terminal cancer, to support the Foundation, which raises funds for Leeds-based Try Assist, the rugby league benevolent fund that helps injured ex players, and leading European cancer centre, The Christie in Manchester.

James who is sponsorship executive at Engage Mutual, commented:

“Steve is inspirational; he works tirelessly to raise money for good causes and to inspire other people. The tasks he sets himself are always extreme – but this year’s challenge goes to the next level.

“Both Paul and I have been training in preparation, but this calls for extreme endurance and grit.  But you can’t fail to be lifted when someone like Steve Prescott is alongside you.”
