Freezon's greetings from Harrogate

17th December 2005

engage Mutual Assurance got in to the community spirit at the 'Harrogate in Lights' switch on, with engage's Chris Lazenby, Mayor Caroline Bayliss and the Soroptimists launching the countdown to the big event. Local school choir St Peter's sang to entertain the crowd, as Father Christmas arrived from Lapland on the train at Harrogate Station to hand out engage goody bags to the crowd.

engage’s sponsorship of the Super League meant they could call on one of the mascots – Bradford Bulls’ ‘Bull Boy’ – to entertain the children and keep the crowd warm with a conga round the square. They also arranged a drinks reception following the event to reflect on the evening’s entertainment - and warm up any frozen fingers and toes.

Chris Lazenby commented “Supporting local events such as this really keeps us in touch with those we’re working alongside and it’s a privilege to take part with so many people who give their time and energy for the benefit of others. We braved the bitter cold to come together and celebrate the switch on in the town and everyone agreed it was the best event of recent years. We’ll certainly be there again next year!”

Involvement in the community is an integral part of engage’s activity and allows the organisation to build relationships with local groups, charities, schools and families.
