our story
Engage Mutual is a friendly society – a mutual organisation, owned by our customers.
On the 18th April 2005, Homeowners Friendly Society which was established in 1980, was rebranded to become Engage Mutual Assurance. We’re an established financial services company with almost 30 years’ experience.
We are based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire so you can be assured that when you call us you are talking to a UK based customer contact centre.
what is a 'Friendly Society'?
Friendly Societies are mutual organisations which were originally formed as social and savings clubs for members. They also provided insurance against illness. Many were formed by people living in certain regions or employed in specific trades.
These days, The Association of Financial Mutuals is working closely with the government to develop new products that encourage people to start saving for the future and to help develop and support a strong mutual insurance sector. Engage Mutual is really proud to be involved with these exciting developments.
what we do, day to day
We’re a leading provider of over 50s life insurance, child trust funds and tax exempt savings plans and we also offer health cash plans - we’re always developing, improving and expanding our product range. We work in partnership with some great companies, including Legal & General, Yorkshire Bank, Clydesdale Bank and Yorkshire Building Society.
Working with communities on a national and local level is a big part of what we do. As well as being the title sponsor for the UK’s premier rugby league competition, the Engage Super League, we also work closely with different charities and we’re involved in a range of community initiatives.
