Here at Engage Mutual we have a strong tradition of charitable support and we get involved in a wide range of different community initiatives and charities. From sponsorship to volunteering work and charity donations to charity bike rides, both Engage Mutual and our staff are very active when it comes to giving something back to our customers and local community.
sponsorship
Much of our effort is focused on working with our neighbouring hospice, Saint Michael’s. In recent years, this support has taken the form of sponsoring their flagship fundraising event, the Engage Mutual Midnight Walk.
Working alongside Saint Michael’s on this event means that we can transform our donation and event support into a significant contribution towards the annual funds needed by the hospice. This year, walker pledges received on the night suggest that Saint Michael's could raise £90,000 from this event.
Through our sponsorship of the Engage Super League we extend our charitable support to a huge amount of good causes through our weekly man of the match scheme, in association with Sky Sports. The scheme currently donates £100 to the Steve Prescott Foundation and £100 to a charity of the player’s choice for each game shown on live television. Engage Mutual also partner with Stray FM, a local Harrogate radio station on their Local Heroes event which recognises those unsung heroes who dedicate their time to other in the community. We have been sponsoring this event for 6 years and you can find out more information on this years event and the winners on our Local Heroes 2011 page.
volunteering
A volunteering scheme in partnership with Saint Michael’s further enhances our support of the hospice by giving our staff the opportunity to volunteer for a variety of tasks from fundraising to general office work. This, in turn, gives Saint Michael’s access to a wide range of skills and a bank of willing helpers!
Already our staff have helped with decorating and refurbishing a local furniture shop for Saint Michael's and lots more is planned for this year. For more information take a look at our community events page.
charity work
Alongside our support for Saint Michael's, our staff are also very proactive when it comes to supporting good causes and in 2010 we received a Silver Award for payroll giving.
Our staff also nominate a charity each year to benefit from any fundraising days held and for 2010 the chosen charity is Macmillan Cancer Support. Additionally for the month of "Movember" Engage staff sported moustaches in aid of The Prostate Cancer Charity and raised an amazing £4,630.
Our staff also get involved in lots of other fundraising activities and we have pulled together a video to show a summary of all the activity that staff undertook during 2010.
