our staff and charity support

As a mutual organisation, giving something back is really important to us and our staff are always keen to help and support people, be these customers, each other, our local community or charities. This is clearly demonstrated by some of the fantastic things our staff have been part of.

In addition to supporting Saint Michael's and the Steve Prescott Foundation, the charities we back as an organisation, staff go to great lengths for causes that are particularly close to their hearts. In May 2013, Engage Mutual introduced Fundraising Fridays to support colleagues in their efforts to raise money for charities close to them.

Those who opt to make a regular charitable contribution can donate directly from their salaries. We've won a Gold award for Payroll Giving - a recognition of our staff take up of the scheme, through which they give to at least 25 various health, animal and children's charities, both here and overseas.

A selection of our latest and best employee charitable moments are summarised below. To get a sense of the range of activities staff get involved in, you can also take a look at our video – this is from 2010.

running to raise money for The Brathay Trust

On Sunday 8 September 2013, our Operations Director Kate McIntyre laced up her running shoes and completed the Windermere marathon course with marathon fanatic Chris Heaton. Chris ran 30 marathons in 30 days as part of his quest to raise £30,000 for The Brathay Trust – a charity that helps vulnerable young people turn their lives around. You can find out more about how they got on here.

Engage Mutual tackle the Abbey Dash

Engage Mutual staff take on Abbey Dash for Alzheimer’s

A team of 37 runners from Engage Mutual donned their running shoes and pounded the pavements for Leeds Abbey Dash on 17 November 2013, to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

The team, with varying running abilities, took part in the 10 km race from Leeds city centre to Kirkstall Abbey and back in order to raise money for the charity which helps people affected by dementia.

The group also took part in a number of extra fundraising activities in the lead-up to the race which resulted in them more than doubling the initial target of raising £2500.
