Life coaching to boost employability
Jobseekers with a degree or professional qualification are being offered a supportive hand from a unique graduatesyorkshire pilot, that will provide funded life and career coaching sessions at engage Mutual Assurance in Harrogate.
Devised by Paul Dowson, Senior Lecturer in Employability at Leeds Metropolitan University, the pilot course focuses on areas critical to career success; including self-awareness, working collaboratively and self-marketing. engage Mutual Assurance is offering corporate support, so those on the course can gain from attending the workshops in a professional commercial environment.
“I noticed a gap in the market for a course that brings together life and career planning. I wanted to provide an opportunity for people to look at the work-life balance issues and to make good decision for their futures, at the same time as improving their CV and interview performances.” Said Paul.
Steve Barry, engage’s Human Resources Director, commented on the mutual’s involvement; “We are a local financial services employer with a keen interest in skilled and capable staff. Supporting educational initiatives keeps us up to date with potential employees and developments in the local recruitment market, as well as allowing us to feedback on the challenges faced by employees as they develop in their chosen field.”
Participants will attend five sessions every other Saturday morning from 25th February to 22nd April 2006 and on completion will walk away with a comprehensive Personal Development Plan, to guide them towards securing a position in an increasingly competitive employment market.
There is no charge for the pilot course at engage, but places are limited. Go to www.graduatesyorkshire.info/lifeplan for more information.
