Harrogate Cricket Club gain new backers
Businesses are backing Harrogate Cricket Club in sponsorship deals worth several thousands of pounds. Harrogate-based engage Mutual Assurance and a local firm of headhunters, SLM Search & Selection, have already signed deals with the club. Negotiations are also being concluded with a third sponsor.
engage Mutual Assurance, which is also the main sponsor of the Rugby Super League (now the engage Super League) has agreed to sponsor the club's fourth team - a development side for younger players - which is being renamed the 'engage Development XI'.
Chief Executive of engage Mutual Assurance, Andrew Haigh, said: "Taking on this sponsorship is an excellent way of emphasising our desire to play an integral part in the development of the community of which we are part. It is very satisfying to be able to support sports development and coaching in Harrogate, especially for younger players.
"We are also delighted to be able to offer two scholarship places to the cricket club's summer coaching school and we are looking forward to working with the club to find the most deserving players."
Financial services recruitment specialists, SLM Search and Selection, has stepped in to sponsor the cricket club's second team which played its first match of the season on Saturday April 23.
The Harrogate company's Managing Director Paul Davison, said: "We are delighted and proud to have formed an association with Harrogate Cricket Club.
"The sponsorship deal is not only an excellent way for us to raise our company profile but also enables us to make a constructive contribution to the local community."
Chairman of Harrogate Cricket Club, Miles Rawlings, said he was delighted with the new 'signings'
He said: "It's fantastic news for us to have such enthusiastic sponsors backing the club. We're looking forward to productive working relationships with engage and SLM and are also hoping to sign up a national name to sponsor our first team in the very near future."
